Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength; loving someone deeply gives you courage.
Gestalt-AnnArbor offers on-going couple's therapy and intensive group therapeutic weekends that will help your partnership gain the awareness necessary to propel you towards a higher dimension of conscious relating.
Couple's Therapy Sessions
Couples are invited to work one-on-one with a trained Gestalt therapist. Therapeutic sessions can vary from one to four hours per session. Weekend and evening appointments are available.
Introductory Workshops for Couples
Gestalt Therapy believes that the transcendence is most attainable when we access the power of NOW. This workshop utilizes the present moment as a stage for examining the complicated dynamics of intimate couple systems. Through objective observation of body movements, use of language and speech patterns, and their style of making contact, the couple is able to effectively explore their process of interaction as it occurs in the here and now. By becoming aware of the entrenched and often unconscious patterns that keep us immobilized, we can then develop the tools necessary for healing and change. This will lead to much deeper levels of expressions in love and spiritual intimacy. This workshop is highly participatory; one or two couples will be used as a demo couple. Other group members will practice the skills of witnessing and "presencing".
Intensive Gestalt Couples Retreats
Couples' Therapeutic Weekends are limited to 4 couples per session. Intensive couples weekends includes 2 full days, usually Saturday and Sunday, with breaks for meals.
Gestalt Therapy utilizes the present moment as a stage for examining the complicated dynamics of intimate couple systems. Through objective observation of the system's body movements, use of language and speech patterns, and their style of making contact, the therapist and the therapy group gives feedback on the process of interaction as it occurs in the here and now. You might say that the group watches how the couple "flows" or how they might be "stuck". It is the stuckness that manifests as anger, resentment, shame, hurt and guilt. By becoming aware of the entrenched and often unconscious patterns that keep us immobilized, we can then develop the tools necessary for healing and change.
